“They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” John 17:16-17 (NLT) — Jesus prayed for His disciples in this manner for a reason. He knew the moral, mental and physical corruption that exists in this world and He prayed to God, that He may sanctify them by His truth. It is so easy to get lost in a world of “everyone’s doing it” we forget who we belong to. Being in this world but not of it speaks of a body of believers who choose to say NO to anything contrary to the will of God. Through the ridicule, through the misunderstandings and hate, these are a body of people who have seen the true light, and are choosing to hold on to it. This light has shone in their hearts, in the face of Jesus Christ, and there is no looking back. God is looking for a people who desire such separation and consecration in order to be pleasing before their maker. It’s tough, I find myself compromising Gods truth at times, just so i’m not the “odd one out.” However, this is what we have been called to do. To stand out even when we find ourselves standing alone. This is the kind of separation our Heavenly Father seeks. Jesus said: “But the time is coming, indeed it’s here now; when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.” John 4:23 (NLT) — There is no middle ground when it comes to TRUTH. You’re either all in, or you’re not. We cannot afford to compromise exuding His aura & presence for a world that is fleeting. Instead, we must be light in the world, like a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. Even when we find ourselves to be the only city standing.
